معرفی
Dr. Xu Wang is a tenured Professor of Comparative Genomics in Animal Health within Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine, holding affiliate appointments at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station, and Scott-Ritchey Research Center. His research integrates genomic technologies with veterinary and agricultural applications to advance animal health and production systems.
Education:
- PhD in Genetics and Genomics, Cornell University, 2011
- BS in Biological Science, Fudan University, 2004
Dr. Wang's research employs multi-omics approaches (genome, transcriptome, methylome, microbiome, metabolome) to investigate health, disease, and production traits across companion and farm animals. His lab specializes in placental genomics—including allele-specific expression, DNA methylation, and X-chromosome inactivation across diverse species—and gut microbiome dynamics in human, livestock, and companion animals. This work bridges fundamental biology with practical applications for animal welfare and agricultural productivity.
Research funding sources:
- National Science Foundation (NSF)
- US Department of Agriculture (USDA)
- Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station (AAES)
- Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
- EveryCat Health Foundation (ECHF)
Dr. Wang serves on grant review panels for USDA-NIFA, Morris Animal Foundation, Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, and AAES. His laboratory directs eight specialized research initiatives including Heterosis in Vertebrates, Canine Behavioral Genomics, Marsupial Toxicology Models, and comparative placental evolution studies.
Scientific recognition:
- Zoetis Award for Veterinary Research Excellence (2023)
