Xiumei Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration at the Asper School of Business, University of Manitoba. She joined the faculty in 2020 after earning her Ph.D. from Drexel University. Her research focuses on entrepreneurial resource mobilization strategies in high-tech industries and digital platforms, particularly examining interactions with venture capital (VC) firms and user communities. Dr. Li’s work has been published in Journal of Business Venturing and presented at the Academy of Management annual conference.

Research interests include venture capital dynamics, digital platform ecosystems, and entrepreneurial bricolage. Her studies explore how startups navigate resource constraints through strategic framing, leadership identity claims, and user engagement to achieve competitive advantage. Recent work examines corporate venture capital (CVC) influence on startup innovation trajectories and dominant design establishment.
