Xinran Wang

Xinran Wang serves as a Research Fellow at the Professorship for Governance and Sustainability within the Faculty of Sustainability at Leuphana University Lüneburg, a position she has held since November 2023. Her work focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to sustainability transitions through governance frameworks and policy analysis.

Her academic background includes:

• International Master of Science in Rural Development (2021-2023) from Ghent University, Cordoba University, and Humboldt University
• Master of Agricultural Sciences (2017-2018) from the University of Melbourne
• Bachelor of Practacultural Sciences (2012-2016) from Beijing Forestry University

Her research spans Sustainability Governance, Energy Policy, and Environmental Law, with particular emphasis on regulatory frameworks for sustainable development. She integrates perspectives from rural development and agricultural sciences to address complex socio-ecological challenges in energy systems and land management. Her methodological approach combines legal analysis with governance theory to examine policy implementation gaps.

As an active member of the Institute of Sustainability Governance, she collaborates with researchers including Jelena Bäumler, Clara-Sophie Baschant, and Edward Challies on transdisciplinary projects examining participatory governance models. Her current work contributes to the institute's research agenda on democratic sustainability transitions and energy policy innovation.
