Harald Heinrichs

Prof. Harald Heinrichs is a Professor of Sustainability and Politics at the Institute of Sustainability Governance, Leuphana University Lüneburg (since 2009). He has served as Dean of Studies (2010-2016; 2023-2026) and held roles including CSR Manager at KPMG (2008-2009), Associate Professor at the Institute for Environmental and Sustainability Communication (2004-2008), and postdoctoral researcher at Jülich Research Centre (2001-2004). His research focuses on sustainability governance, energy policy, and public/environmental law. He teaches courses on sustainability politics, public law, and European law with sustainability emphases.

• Education: Doctorate in Sociology (University of Stuttgart/Jülich Research Centre, 2002), undergraduate studies in Sociology, Political Science, and Economic Policy (University of Münster).

His research explores intersections of politics, energy systems, and legal frameworks for sustainability. Teaching and mentorship include guiding students in sustainability-related disciplines. He collaborates with the SteuerBoard Energie Team, comprising researchers like Jelena Bäumler, Clara-Sophie Baschant, and others, advancing interdisciplinary sustainability governance research.
