Xing Zhao

Xing Zhao is Lecturer in Electrical Engineering at the University of York's School of Physics, Engineering and Technology. His research develops advanced electric motor technologies, power electronics, and AI applications for electric vehicles. Current projects include next-generation sensorless motor drives and mechanical-tolerance-insensitive manufacturing methods for direct-drive electrical machines.

Dr Zhao has authored over 90 technical papers and holds multiple patents in power electronics and motor control. He serves as Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification and contributes to international standards in electric vehicle powertrain optimization. His work on hybridization chain reaction diagnostics enables instrument-free pathogen detection with near-PCR sensitivity.
