Xin Wang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology & Cell Science at the University of Florida. His research focuses on microbial physiology and synthetic biology, particularly exploring the design principles of cells and their applications. Key research interests include photosynthesis, cyanobacteria, and synthetic biology. His lab investigates mechanisms regulating gene expression, drug metabolism pathways, and pharmacogenomic markers influencing drug response.
Dr. Wang’s work integrates genetic, epigenetic, and transcriptomic approaches to understand regulatory networks in human tissues, with applications in personalized medicine and drug development. The lab collaborates on projects addressing CYP enzyme regulation, miRNA biomarkers for therapeutic toxicity, and social determinants of health in chronic diseases.
- Lab Members: Postdoc Ningdong Xie; Graduate Students Nowshin Islam, Zhenxiong Jiang, Chetna Sharma
- Key Technologies: Allele-specific protein expression analysis, QconCAT proteomics, ChIP-seq
- Focus Areas: Pharmacogenomics, Enzyme Regulation, Microbial Engineering
Publications highlight contributions to understanding genetic variants affecting drug metabolism, miRNA-driven pathways in cancer therapy, and regulatory mechanisms in liver and heart tissues. Ongoing work emphasizes translational applications of synthetic biology for biotechnology and medicine.
