Xin Tang is an Associate Professor at the School of Education, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and holds Docent (Associate Professor) titles at the University of Helsinki and University of Jyväskylä. His research focuses on student motivation, engagement, curiosity, and well-being, with a particular interest in the interplay between teaching practices and academic outcomes. He has authored over 40 publications and serves on editorial boards for journals like the Journal of Youth and Adolescence and Learning and Individual Differences.
Education background includes a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Jyväskylä (2013-2017), followed by postdoctoral research at the University of Helsinki. His work bridges international collaborations, examining educational systems in Finland, China, and the U.S. Key projects include studies on school burnout, social-emotional skills, and the impact of epistemic curiosity on academic performance.
He leads initiatives such as the Study Demands-Resources (SD-R) model and has developed tools like the School Day Wellbeing Model using AI for real-time student well-being assessment. His research often employs longitudinal designs and network analysis to explore complex educational dynamics.
