Xin Liu is a Senior Lecturer in Gender Studies at Karlstad University. Her work bridges feminist theory, digital politics, and environmental studies, with a focus on technoecologies, new materialisms, and postcolonial critiques. She has co-edited major volumes including Digital Politics, Digital Histories, Digital Futures (2023) and Feminist Technoecologies (2019). Her research explores intersections of race, capitalism, and embodiment through lenses like gamification, air quality governance, and pandemic media.
Key contributions include rethinking sociotechnical imaginaries, the economic valuation of nature in the Anthropocene, and feminist critiques of citation practices. She frequently collaborates across disciplines, co-editing special issues on topics like 'Sexualities and Critiques of Capital' (2022) and 'Environmental Media Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic' (2020). Her work appears in top journals such as Australian Feminist Studies, Catalyst, and Parallax.
Recent projects address ornamental feminist accounts of wealth, transnational feminist encounters, and the politics of boredom in gaming cultures.
