Xin-Li LIAO is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Xiamen University, China. With a career spanning over two decades, he specializes in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, protein structure and dynamics, and quantum chemistry. Dr. Liao holds a Ph.D. in Quantum Chemistry from Xiamen University (1996), an M.S. in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1992), and a B.S. in Physics (1986).
- Associate Professor: July 2009–Present, Xiamen University
- Visiting Scholar at The University of Dundee (2019), The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2018), Broad Institute (2015), University of Maryland (2010–2011), and Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (2008, 2004)
His research focuses on NMR experimental techniques, protein-ligand interactions, and molecular dynamics simulations. Recent work explores RNA structure at The University of Dundee and cancer structural biology at UNC Chapel Hill. Publications highlight his contributions to understanding Mycobacterium tuberculosis ribosomal protein S1 dynamics and drug interactions via NMR.
While no explicit scientific awards are mentioned, his extensive publication record in journals like Biomolecular NMR Assignments, Nucleic Acids Research, and Physical Review E demonstrates academic impact. Collaborations include institutions in China, the UK, USA, and interdisciplinary teams at Xiamen University.
