Xin Huang is Associate Professor and Department Chair of Women's & Gender Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's College of Letters & Science. Her research examines gender narratives through oral histories and visual media, with focus on Chinese feminisms and reproductive justice frameworks.
Dr. Huang's scholarship investigates three primary domains: 1) Gender and visual life narratives in Mao/post-Mao China, 2) Reproductive justice and necropolitics in one-child policy contexts, and 3) Linguistic politics in feminist knowledge production. She teaches courses in feminist theory, research methods, and gender in global contexts.
Publications analyze photographic life narratives, xenophone scholarship, and gender transformations in contemporary China. No awards or grants information is available. Her office hours include both virtual and in-person sessions for student consultation.
Future research explores gender/sexual politics in China's one-child generation and the theoretical relationships between population control and economic modernization.
