Xiaoying Snow Zhang

Xiaoying Snow Zhang is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She is also Senior Counsel and Patent Attorney at Saxton & Stump’s Intellectual Property Group, and a co-founder of Ultron-AI, a CMU spinout focused on AI-based computer vision. Previously, she served as Corporate Counsel at Bossa Nova Robotics and held roles as Associate Licensing Manager at Carnegie Mellon University Technology Transfer Office and Project IP Manager at CMU’s Biometrics Center.

Dr. Zhang holds a JD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and a Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her research intersects legal and technical domains, emphasizing patent strategy, technology commercialization, and IP policy. She advises tech startups and angel investor groups on innovation-related legal challenges.

Her writing critiques patent ownership transparency and proposes balanced regulatory frameworks. She actively bridges academia and industry through roles in technology transfer and legal practice.
