Xiaoying Li

Xiaoying Li is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD), where she has taught since September 2023. Her teaching portfolio includes courses in Principles of Management, Business Strategy, Project Management, Operations & Supply Chain Management, and Capstone for MBA students. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Management from Capella University, an MBA in Global Business from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, and a BSc in Ocean Engineering from Shanghai JiaoTong University.

• Research Focus: Strategic alignment, data-driven decision-making, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization.
• Professional Background: Prior to academia, she served as a Senior Project Manager and Project Director at National Oilwell Varco, with global experience in Houston, TX, and Dalian, China.
• Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) since 2013.

Her scholarship includes a textbook on Problem Solving and Decision Making in Business (2024) and a peer-reviewed journal article analyzing project management tools' impact on firm performance (2025). She has presented research on the Value Capture Network Model at SWAM 2025.
