Xiaotong Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at North Carolina State University, affiliated with the Organic and Carbon Electronics Laboratories. She joined NC State in January 2024 following postdoctoral research at the California Institute of Technology and her Ph.D. at Northwestern University.
Education: B.S. in Chemistry from Nankai University (2016), Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northwestern University (2021), and postdoctoral training at Caltech (2021–2023).
Research focuses on synthesizing and structurally characterizing novel hybrid/inorganic materials for energy applications, particularly halide perovskites and their structure-property relationships. Key interests include designing new perovskite materials for optoelectronic and battery applications, exploring quantum-well formations, and understanding lone pair effects on material properties.
Publications highlight advancements in 2D perovskites, cathode materials for Li/Na-ion batteries, and lattice engineering for stable perovskite crystals. Her work bridges materials synthesis, structural analysis, and device functionality.
Currently leads a research group at NC State, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to energy-related materials science.
