Xiaoping Qian is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he leads research in topology optimization, shape optimization, and additive manufacturing. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan (2001) and previously taught at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
