Dr. Xiaoning Chen is an Associate Professor in the ESL/Bilingual Education department at National Louis University's National College of Education. She teaches foundational courses including Methods for Teaching ESL, Assessment of Bilingual Students, and Technology for Diverse Learners.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Literacy and Language Education from Purdue University (2007), an M.S. from Purdue (2002), and a B.A. in English from Nanjing Normal University (1997). Prior to NLU, she taught EFL in China and literacy courses at SUNY Fredonia and North Central College.
Dr. Chen's research examines socio-cultural dimensions of multilingualism, visual literacy applications in diverse classrooms, multicultural children's literature, and technology-mediated language development. Her scholarship emphasizes equitable access to literacy resources for linguistically diverse student populations.
