Xiaoming Yang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marketing & Entrepreneurship at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), within the College of Business Administration. He holds a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. His research focuses on cognitive behaviors of entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurship, technological entrepreneurship, and corporate entrepreneurship, with particular emphasis on effectuation, lean start-up methodologies, and innovation performance in big data environments.
Dr. Yang has received the CBA Summer Fellowships in 2019 and 2020 for his scholarly contributions. He actively serves on UNO's Strategic Planning Council and organizes the BigIdea!Pitch Contest to foster student entrepreneurship. His professional development includes participation in the Price-Babson Symposium for Entrepreneurship Educators and initiatives to enhance research capacity in MBA programs.
His publications span topics like entrepreneurial finance, digital transformation in manufacturing, and the psychological drivers of venture creation. Notable works explore the impact of visualization tools in crowdfunding, synergizing institutional logics in cross-border acquisitions, and leveraging social motivations in consumer behavior. He also contributes to academic service as a journal reviewer and policy advisor for academic probation reforms.
Dr. Yang’s interdisciplinary approach bridges entrepreneurship theory with practical innovation challenges, particularly in emerging markets and social ventures. His work emphasizes co-creation, risk management, and the role of communal goals in entrepreneurial activities, reflecting a commitment to advancing both theoretical and applied research.
