Xiaolin Peng is a Lecturer in Mandarin Chinese at the Joseph H. Lauder Institute of the University of Pennsylvania, where she has been teaching since 2009. She joined the faculty in 2014 as part of the Chinese Language and Culture Program. Dr. Peng holds a Ph.D. in Educational Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Teaching Foreign Languages from the University of Georgia.
Her research interests focus on bilingual education, second language acquisition, task-based curriculum design, technology integration in language education, and teacher training. She is certified by ACTFL as an Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) tester for Mandarin. Over her career, she has collaborated with universities, international schools, and non-profits in the U.S. and China to develop innovative language curricula for diverse student populations. Her recent work includes studies on young language learners across countries, resulting in several published academic papers.
Xiaolin has been actively involved in curriculum development and teacher training initiatives, emphasizing practical, technology-enhanced approaches to language education. Her contributions bridge theoretical research and pedagogical practice, aiming to enhance global language learning outcomes.
