Xiao P. Peng

Xiao P. Peng, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics (Pediatric Genetic Medicine) and Genetics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She serves as Director of the Genetics of Blood and Immunity Clinic and Co-Director of the New York Center for Rare Diseases at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. Her clinical focus is on diagnosing and treating genetically-driven disorders of blood and immunity (GBIs), integrating molecular medicine and genetics to identify novel disease mechanisms. Dr. Peng holds leadership roles in the North American Immuno-Hematology Clinical Education & Research (NICER) Consortium and serves on boards such as the Clinical Immunological Society (CIS) and the European Society of Human Genetics.

Research Interests: Dr. Peng’s work explores genome maintenance, transcriptional gene regulation, post-translational modifications, and host-pathogen co-evolution. She investigates how microbial interactions shape human genomes and immune systems. Her research bridges clinical care and basic science, emphasizing translational applications for undiagnosed genetic disorders.

Grants & Collaborations: Principal investigator and co-investigator on multiple funded projects, including roles in the ClinGen Immunology CDWG and Genetic Disorders of Mucociliary Clearance Consortium. She also contributes to the Ataxia Telangiectasia Clinic and the North American Immuno-Hematology Consortium (NICER).

Labs & Teams: Active in interdisciplinary teams at the Center for Chronic Immunodeficiency (University of Freiburg, Germany) and collaborates with institutions globally to advance GBI research and patient care.
