Xiangwei Zhou is an Associate Professor in the Division of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Louisiana State University (LSU), part of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. His research focuses on wireless communications, federated learning, IoT, and AI-driven signal processing. He holds a Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology (2011), a master's from Zhejiang University (2007), and a bachelor's from Nanjing University of Science and Technology (2005).
Dr. Zhou has held academic positions at LSU since 2015, Southern Illinois University Carbondale (2013–2015), and industry experience as a Senior Systems Engineer at Marvell Semiconductor (2011–2013). His funded projects include NSF grants on spectrum sharing and Louisiana Board of Regents initiatives for 3D printing process monitoring. He advises Ph.D., MS, and undergraduate researchers, including notable advisees like Xiaobing Chen (Meta), Feixiang Zhang (Verizon), and Shengjie Guo (Fiture).
Research interests span federated learning architectures, secure IoT systems, and machine learning applications in communications. Notable awards include the 2014 Best Paper Award (WCSP) and IEEE Senior Member status. He serves as an editor for IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and founding editor of the IEEE Transactions on Machine Learning in Communications and Networking.
Recent publications emphasize federated learning optimization, RIS-aided HetNets, and covert UAV communication systems. Funded projects highlight his work in AI-driven spectrum management and edge computing.
