Xiang Zheng is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Connecticut's School of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Boston College (2021) and focuses on FinTech, corporate finance, banking, law and finance, and entrepreneurial finance. His research explores topics such as innovation screening, bankruptcy reforms, and the interplay between financial institutions and emerging technologies.
Key achievements include the FMA Best Paper Award in FinTech (2021) and the Kuldeep Shastri Outstanding Doctoral Student Paper (2021). His work has been published in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and is under review in top journals like the Journal of Finance and Journal of Law and Economics.
Recent research highlights include analyzing how banks' venture investments in fintech firms shift competitive dynamics, the role of options markets in newly public companies, and the unintended consequences of VC activism in startups.
