Xi Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), part of the College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from Penn State University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Southeast University (Nanjing, China). Her research focuses on developing trustworthy AI systems, emphasizing robustness, privacy, fairness, and interpretability across diverse applications.
Her work has been published in top-tier venues like ICCV, AAAI, and ICASSP, alongside journals such as IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering. She actively reviews for conferences like NeurIPS, CVPR, and journals like Computers and Security. While her primary academic contributions lie in AI, her interdisciplinary publications span biotechnology and biomedical engineering, reflecting a focus on applying computational methods to solve complex healthcare challenges. She currently advises no formal graduate students but collaborates extensively on biomanufacturing and targeted therapy projects. Her lab engages in cutting-edge research at the interface of AI and biomedical systems, with ongoing efforts to advance gene therapy production processes and optogenetic tools for cellular studies.
