Xi-Cheng Zhang is a distinguished Professor and Head of the International Institute of Photonics and Optical Information Technology at ITMO University, Russia. He is also affiliated with the University of Rochester, USA, and serves on ITMO's International Council. His work bridges fundamental and applied research in photonics and optical technologies.
His research interests include Photonics, Terahertz Physics, Nonlinear Optics, and Ultrafast Information Transfer. His work has advanced the development of terahertz-based communication and imaging systems. He has led initiatives in joint Russian-American educational programs and founded a summer school in photonics for international students.
The recent articles highlight his focus on high-speed optical communication and terahertz wave applications. These works reflect strong trends in electromagnetic wave engineering, integrated photonics, and nonlinear optical signal processing, with implications for next-generation information systems.
