Dr Xavier Pierron is a Lecturer in Strategy and Circular Economy at the Napier Business School, Edinburgh Napier University. He holds a PhD in Engineering and the Environment from the University of Southampton, alongside degrees in Business and Engineering. His research focuses on integrating behavioral economics principles to address sustainability challenges, particularly in circular economy strategies for e-waste management and consumer behavior analysis. He has collaborated with organizations like Sims Metal Recycling and GE Aviation, applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve operational efficiency in healthcare and manufacturing sectors.
Key research areas include urban mining exploitation, consumer decision-making for electronic waste, and leveraging space sector practices for Earth-based sustainability. He supervises doctoral projects in supply chain management, charity leadership, and blockchain applications in supply chains. Pierron also contributes to income generation through circular economy research bids and has authored/co-authored influential publications on topics such as mobile device stockpiling, NHS process optimization, and space-inspired circular systems.
His interdisciplinary background combines business strategy with engineering to develop innovative solutions for SMEs, emphasizing competitive advantages through waste reduction and sustainable resource management. Current projects include analyzing stakeholders’ perceptions of blockchain in Nigerian oil and gas supply chains and exploring veterans’ transition to civilian work in prisons.
