Wude Tsega

Dr. Wude Tsega is a Researcher at the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research and an AWARD Visiting Fellow at the Roslin Institute, funded by the Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health through a BBSRC GCRF-STARS award. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science and a Master's/PhD in Animal Production from Ethiopia.

Her research specializes in:

• Tropical livestock production systems
• Genomic applications in livestock genetics and health
• Animal productivity enhancement for smallholder farmers
• Breeding optimization using advanced biotechnology

She has received the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) Fellowship, enabling her four-week residency at Roslin to acquire advanced technical skills in DNA manipulation and genome editing.

Her fellowship objectives include transferring acquired knowledge to upgrade Ethiopian research infrastructure and establishing collaborative networks. Driven by her farming background, she aims to directly improve livestock-derived income for Ethiopian farmers through genetic innovations.
