Wu Te-Mei is a Professor and former Director of the Graduate Institute of Development Studies at National Cheng-Chi University, Taiwan. She specializes in Chinese labor rights, water governance, cross-strait relations, and political economy. Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. from National Chengchi University (1996), and MA and BA degrees from prestigious institutions in Taiwan. She has held visiting scholar positions at the University of British Columbia (1998) and Stanford University (1997–1998).
Her research focuses on socio-economic transformation in China, including labor policies, urban water privatization, and regional economic integration. Key contributions include analyzing ECFA’s implications for Taiwan’s referendum processes and exploring inclusive development in the Greater Mekong Sub-Region. She has served on review committees for the Mainland Affairs Council and academic journals, emphasizing policy analysis and governance studies.
Publications span topics such as neoliberalism’s role in China’s urban infrastructure, Taiwan’s environmental governance, and the political economy of global agreements. Her work bridges academic inquiry with practical policy insights, particularly in East Asian development contexts.
