معرفی
Wouter de Laat is a Full Professor in Biomedical Genomics at the Hubrecht Institute (UMC Utrecht). His research focuses on genome structure, chromatin dynamics, and gene regulation, particularly through the development of 3C/4C technologies for studying DNA contacts and enhancer-gene interactions.
- Studied biology at Utrecht University
- PhD in DNA repair (1998, Erasmus University Rotterdam)
- Developed 3C/4C technologies for chromatin loop analysis
- ERC Starting Grant recipient (2008)
- Work spans cancer genomics, gene regulation, and DNA repair
His work reveals mechanisms of long-range gene activation and enhancer dysfunction in diseases. He investigates chromatin folding in development and disease, including oncogene activation in leukemia and enhancer RNA roles in cancer plasticity. Key collaborators include Frank Grosveld and Peter Ten Dijke.
Scientific awards include VIDI (2000), VICI (2012), and EMBO Fellowship. Students and collaborators include Peter H.L. Krijger and Erik Splinter. Current affiliations: Hubrecht Institute, UMC Utrecht, and strategic cancer research programs.
