Wouter Vandenhole is a full Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Antwerp, where he teaches human rights and children's rights. He previously held the UNICEF Chair in Children's Rights from 2007 to 2018 and currently chairs the academic working party of the University Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, as well as the non-governmental north-south organization Broederlijk Delen. He serves as lead convenor of SUSTJUSTICE, focusing on sustainable justice frameworks.

His research spans critical children’s rights studies, economic and social rights, and transnational human rights obligations. He explores intersections between human rights law and development, emphasizing non-discrimination, climate justice, and post-territorial governance. Recent work includes methodological approaches to combating child marriage and analyzing the procedural turn in human rights enforcement.
Scientific outputs reveal a focus on European and African human rights systems, legal pluralism, and socio-cultural contexts for children's rights. His publications examine case law from the European Court of Human Rights, intercountry adoption ethics, and frameworks for addressing disadvantage through non-discrimination principles.
