معرفی
Wooyoung Choi is a Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). His research focuses on nonlinear wave dynamics, internal waves, and fluid mechanics, with applications in oceanography and mathematical physics. He has led multiple National Science Foundation (NSF) grants investigating topics such as nonlinear wave interactions, density-stratified flows, and wind-driven surface waves.
Key research interests include strongly nonlinear waves, internal solitary waves, and the development of numerical models for wave propagation. His work often integrates mathematical theory with observational and remote sensing data.
Notable projects include collaborations on resonant wave interactions in stratified flows (2021–2025), nonlinear interactions between surface and internal gravity waves (2016–2019), and modeling steep surface waves under wind forcing (2015–2018). These projects highlight his expertise in both theoretical and applied fluid dynamics.
Choi has published extensively on topics such as cnoidal waves, solitary wave solutions, and stability analysis of water waves. His contributions have advanced understanding of wave dynamics in complex fluid systems, particularly in oceanic environments.
He has advised numerous collaborative research initiatives and serves as Principal Investigator (PI) on multiple NSF-funded projects, demonstrating leadership in interdisciplinary scientific research.
