Woowon Kang is a Professor at the Department of Physics within the College at the University of Chicago, affiliated with the James Franck Institute. His research focuses on the fractional quantum Hall effect and its applications in topological quantum computation.
Research Interests: Professor Kang investigates the fractional quantum Hall effect, a phenomenon critical to developing topological quantum computers. These systems leverage non-Abelian anyons in semiconductor heterostructures for fault-tolerant qubits immune to local decoherence. His work bridges condensed matter physics, quantum computing, and experimental physics.
