Woonsup Choi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). His research focuses on climate change impacts on hydrology, urban growth effects on water resources, drought analysis, and environmental education through artistic activities. He holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Illinois, Urbana (2005), and MA/BA degrees from Seoul National University, South Korea (1997/1995).
Teaching includes courses such as Geog 120 – Our Physical Environment, Geog 325 – Data Science and Environmental Applications, and Geog 515/716 – Watershed Analysis and Modeling. His work integrates geospatial tools and hydrological modeling to address environmental challenges, with emphasis on Wisconsin’s water systems and North Korean land-use changes.
Recent publications explore climate change effects on groundwater dynamics, urbanization impacts on stormflow, and deforestation in North Korea. Research trends highlight interdisciplinary approaches linking climatic, hydrological, and urban factors. No notable awards are listed, though his work contributes significantly to regional environmental policy and education.
