Woojin Kim is an Assistant Professor of Political Economy at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. His research focuses on political polarization's impact on policies and professional behavior, as well as the influence of social forces on consumers and voters. He holds a PhD in Economics from UC Berkeley (2024) and a B.S. in Economics from Duke University (2015). Prior to Stanford, he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (2024–2025) and a Research Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School (2023–2025).
His work bridges political economy and behavioral economics, examining topics like policy diffusion, voter mobilization, and healthcare polarization. Notable contributions include studies on evidence adoption bottlenecks and the role of peer pressure in electoral participation. Kim has been recognized with the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award (2019) and serves as a reviewer for top journals such as the American Economic Review and the Journal of Public Economics.
Kim’s research also explores the historical relationship between television consumption and consumerism in the U.S. He collaborates with institutions like The People Lab at Harvard Kennedy School and actively engages with policy debates through media insights and scholarly commentary.
