معرفی
Woo Lee is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Stevens Institute of Technology. His research focuses on developing microfluidic-based 3D human tissue models ("human tissue on chip") to study inflammatory/infectious diseases and cancer mechanisms, particularly in bone marrow microenvironments. He has over 130 publications and holds 22 U.S. patents. His educational innovations include integrating generative AI into introductory biology courses. He has led Stevens’ Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology since 2020, fostering interdisciplinary science-medicine-engineering collaborations.
- Education: PhD (1990) Georgia Tech, MS (1987) Auburn University, BS (1985) University of Maryland (all in Chemical Engineering)
- Awards: Edison Patent Award (2022), Fellow of American Ceramic Society (2004)
His lab explores mechanisms of drug-resistant cancer survival and immunotherapy evasion. Recent work includes modeling multiple myeloma-osteoblast interactions and developing wearable graphene sensors. He has directed over 40 grants from NIH, NSF, and DoD, and supervised seven NJ Inventors Hall of Fame award-winning students.
