Xiaoguang Meng

Xiaoguang Meng is a Professor at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering, Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering and Science, Stevens Institute of Technology. He holds adjunct roles in water engineering, environmental chemistry, and nanotechnology-based remediation.

Education:

• PhD (1993) in Environmental Engineering, Syracuse University
• MS (1985) and BS (1982) in Marine Chemistry, Ocean University of China

Research Focus:

• Physicochemical treatment of arsenic and heavy metals in water/solids
• Heavy metal interactions at interfaces (e.g., uranium, arsenic)
• Development of titanium-based adsorbents and household water filtration systems
• Nanomaterial applications in environmental remediation

Key Achievements:

• Co-founder of HydroGlobe LLC (water treatment innovations)
• Recipient of 2001 Intel Environmental Award and 2009 NJ Inventors Hall of Fame recognition
• Over 10 U.S. patents including titanium dioxide-based adsorbents and arsenic removal systems
• Developed UNICEF-endorsed water purification packets used in Bangladesh and developing nations
