Prof. Dr. Wolf-Andreas Liebert is a full-time Professor of German Linguistics and Language Didactics at the University of Koblenz-Landau, affiliated with the Institute of German Studies (Faculty 2). He serves as a Professorial member of the collegial management and Project Manager of the Ada Lovelace Project. His roles include former Vice President for Research (2004-2008), Dean of Faculty 2 (2020-2023), and Senate member. He holds a Magister Artium (1988) and PhD (1991) from Heidelberg University, with a habilitation in German Linguistics (2001).
His research focuses on metaphor theory, science communication, and linguistic analysis of scientific texts. Notable projects include EU’s Network of European Reference Corpora (NERC), DFG postdoctoral research on metaphor use among virologists, and leadership in Collaborative Research Center 245’s 'Science Information' subproject. He has held academic positions at the University of Trier and engaged in interdisciplinary collaborations with institutions like the German Cancer Research Center.
Awards include the Hugo Moser Foundation Prize and honorary citizenship from Austin, Texas. He has served on boards of the University Foundation Koblenz, GESIS, and the Management Center Middle Rhine. Current roles include Transfer Officer for FB2 and Liaison Lecturer for the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.
