Wojciech Orawiec

Wojciech Orawiec is a Professor at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where he teaches in the Faculty of Instrumental Studies. He graduated with distinction from the Academy of Music in Kraków in 1976 and has maintained a distinguished dual career as performer and educator.

Professor Orawiec began his professional career as principal bassoonist with the Pomeranian Philharmonic Orchestra under Antoni Wit. Since 1980, he has been permanently associated with the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Gdańsk while maintaining a long-standing collaboration with the Wojciech Rajski Chamber Orchestra. His performance career spans solo, orchestral, and chamber music contexts across Europe and beyond.

His artistic interests focus on Bassoon Performance, Chamber Music, and Wind Ensemble Performance, with significant contributions to contemporary repertoire. Professor Orawiec has participated in numerous world premieres, including the Polish premiere of Andrzej Panufnik's Bassoon Concerto, and has performed over 500 concerts as member of the Gdańsk Reed Trio, Gdańsk Wind Quintet, and Wind Octet since 1982.

As an educator, Professor Orawiec conducts master classes and interpretation courses for bassoonists and chamber ensembles. Since 2001, he has served on the Ministry of National Education's list of experts for teacher advancement and regularly participates in developing national audition programs and curricula for bassoonists. He is frequently invited to chair juries at national and international chamber music and wind instrument competitions.
