Dr. Kung's research spans mental health disparities among minorities, cultural barriers in treatment access, family psychoeducation for schizophrenia, PTSD post-9/11 among Asian Americans, and cross-cultural social work education in China. Her publications reflect these themes, often analyzing sociocultural contexts and service integration.
Recent work focuses on longitudinal mental health impacts of the World Trade Center attack (2018, 2016), cultural adaptations for family interventions (2005), and barriers to care (2004). Articles emphasize Asian American communities, trauma responses, and culturally sensitive practices.
Dr. Kung has secured grants from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (CDC), Lois and Samuel Silberman Fund, and Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation for studies on Asian American mental health, Chinese caregiver interventions, and cross-cultural social work education.
