Dr. Winifred Ekezie is a Lecturer in Public Health, Sociology and Policy at Aston University. She holds an honorary role as Research Fellow at the University of Leicester and coordinates evidence synthesis for the Avoidable Deaths Network. Her work focuses on global health inequities, migration, and marginalized populations, with expertise in systematic reviews, qualitative analysis, and policy evaluation.
Educated at the University of Nottingham (PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health) and the University of Sheffield (MPH), Dr. Ekezie teaches courses on global health, research methods, and health promotion. Her research emphasizes vaccination strategies, health communication, and community engagement among ethnic minorities and internally displaced persons.
Her recent work includes analyzing Long Covid outcomes, migrant healthcare workers' mental health during the pandemic, and global vaccination communication strategies. Key contributions include scoping reviews on ethnic minority healthcare priorities and meta-analyses of infectious disease risk factors.
Dr. Ekezie collaborates internationally on projects addressing displacement-related health challenges, including resilience actions of internally displaced populations in Nigeria and health aid allocation in LMICs. She actively advocates for inclusive health policies and marginalized group representation in research.
