Winifred Chekwubechukwu Maduko is a Tutor and PhD candidate at the School of Geography and Sustainable Development, University of St Andrews, UK. Her research focuses on antibiotic resistance mitigation through community engagement and sustainable development frameworks. She holds an MSc in Sustainable Development (2023) and an Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development qualification (2023).
Research interests include public health interventions, participatory action, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) initiatives, with a regional focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. She teaches modules on Sustainable Development Goals and Data Literacy for Justice, and supports participatory research on AMR.
Her work intersects with UN SDGs 3 (Good Health), 6 (Clean Water), and 17 (Partnerships). Recent publications address antibiotic stewardship strategies and water crisis mitigation in Nigeria. She serves as a Global Citizen Scholar (Ban Ki-Moon Centre) and UK Ambassador (The ONE Campaign).
Teaching activities include guest lectures on geographies of health in Africa and digital communications for participatory research. Her research emphasizes co-creation and community-centered solutions to global health and environmental challenges.
