Univ.-Prof. Dr. Winfried Eckel is a Professor of Comparative Literature at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, affiliated with the Faculty of Philology. His research focuses on modern poetry, intermedial studies, and literary aesthetics, with particular emphasis on symbolism, music in literature, and romanticism. He holds editorial roles for major literary journals and has published extensively on figures like Rilke, Mallarmé, and Proust.
