Wim Boonstra is a part-time Associate Professor of Economic and Monetary Policy at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (since 2000), affiliated with the School of Business and Economics' Economics Department. He holds a PhD from VU Amsterdam (2008) and has extensive industry experience, including serving as Chief Economist at Rabobank (2000–2016) and RaboResearch (1991–2023). His research focuses on Monetary Economics, Banking, European Integration, and International Macroeconomics. Boonstra has contributed to debates on wage moderation, poverty in the Netherlands, and eurozone policy. He received the 1990 Special Merit Award from the American Express Award Competition. His teaching includes courses on Monetary Economics, International Economics, and Bank Management.
