Wilson Chiu

Dr. Wilson Chiu is a Professor at the University of Connecticut's Department of Mechanical Engineering within the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Manufacturing Engineering. He joined UConn in August 1999 after earning his M.S. (1997) and Ph.D. (1999) in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University. His research program has secured $25.9M in total funding ($6.3M personal share) from agencies including the U.S. Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, Office of Naval Research, and Army Research Office.

His research spans heat/mass transfer with chemical reactions applied to sustainable energy systems, including:

• Electrochemical devices (fuel cells, batteries, electrolyzers)
• Advanced materials (gas separation membranes, metal foams, waste forms)
• Energy systems (molten salt reactors, solar cells)
• Nano-materials (carbon nanostructures, photonics, semiconductors)

Dr. Chiu holds significant editorial leadership roles including Editor-in-Chief of the ASME Journal of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage and serves on executive committees for ASTFE and ECS. He has organized 65+ conferences and delivered 120+ invited/keynote lectures globally.
