Wilma Irvine is a Teaching Professor and Programme Coordinator for the MA Primary Education (MAPE) Year 1 at the University of Edinburgh's Moray House School of Education and Sport. She joined the university in 2005 as a part-time Teaching Fellow, transitioning to full-time in 2014. Her roles include curriculum development, pedagogy innovation, and teaching across MAPE programmes. She coordinates courses such as MAPE Year 1 PECP and Year 2 PEP and Placement experiences.
Wilma's research focuses on holistic learning in primary physical education, dance education models, and Lesson Study approaches in teacher training. She leads the LS-ITE project (2020-2022), funded by the Principal's Teaching Award Scheme, to develop digital resources for initial teacher education. She has collaborated on initiatives like the Scottish Primary Physical Education Project and Basic Moves Programme.
