Dr Liz Latto is a Teaching Professor and Programme Director at the Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh. She holds a PhD in Education (University of Edinburgh), a PGDE (Primary), an MPhil in Latin American Studies (University of Glasgow), and a BA in Applied Consumer Studies (Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh). Her research focuses on posthuman and feminist materialist theories to explore professional identities in Early Learning and Childcare (ELC), emphasizing materialities, affect, and relationalities to address structural inequalities.
Teaching responsibilities include co-directing the BA Childhood Practice Programme and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations. She is co-convenor of the SERA Early Years Network and a member of the Centre for Creative-Relational Inquiry (CCRI). Her work critiques neoliberal frameworks in ELC through innovative methodologies like 'iii-poems' and diffractive practices, highlighting marginalized workforce experiences.
Publications include explorations of kinship, more-than-human pedagogies, and narrative methodologies. Current projects reimagine research praxis to include sensorial and material dimensions, advocating for socially just educational practices.
