Willy Wriggers

Willy Wriggers is a Professor & Eminent Scholar at the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Old Dominion University (ODU), affiliated with the Biomachina Lab. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1998). His research focuses on computational modeling of biomolecular systems, cryo-electron microscopy (Cryo-EM) analysis, and structural biology. He leads the Multiscale Biomedical Modeling Lab, established at ODU in 2014 after prior affiliations with institutions like Scripps Research Institute and Weill Cornell Medical College.

His work spans grants such as the NIH-funded 'Multi-Resolution Docking Methods For Electron Microscopy' (2016–2017). Key research themes include actin filament dynamics, probability density estimation in molecular systems, and lipid membrane electroporation modeling. His lab develops software tools like Situs Sculptor and ModeHunter for biomedical modeling.
