Dr. Willy Wint is a Senior Visiting Researcher affiliated with the Environmental Research Group Oxford (ERGO) at the University of Oxford and serves as a Trustee for the Global Canopy Fund. His career spans decades, evolving from ecological entomology in the 1970s to tropical and temperate community ecology in the 1980s, environmental resource assessment (including aerial wildlife surveys), and later specializing in spatial analysis, disease risk modeling, and data management.
Research Interests:
Current projects include spatial modeling of bovine tuberculosis in the UK, host distribution modeling for the European Union FP7 EDENext project, and spatial analysis of human disease vectors (ticks, mosquitoes, sandflies) in response to climate change for the ECDC. He contributes to UN FAO livestock distribution maps and a book on Wytham Woods' ecological contributions. His work also addresses dengue mapping via the IDAMS project and economic impacts of Trypanosomiasis control in East Africa.
