Willie Mack is an Assistant Professor of Black Studies and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the University of Missouri. His work interrogates the intersections of race, immigration, and the carceral state in the 20th-century United States, with a transnational focus on Haiti and the U.S. during 1970–1990s. He contributes to platforms like Black Perspectives and the Next Chapter digital forum.
Research Focus
Mack explores transnational carceral regimes, punitive anti-communism, and Black solidarity movements. His upcoming book Transnational Carceral Regimes and Punitive Anti-communism (University of Virginia Press, 2026) analyzes Haitian immigrants in New York City and Haiti from 1915–2000. He also co-edits the anthology Dark Waters, centering Black experiences in U.S. immigration history.
