معرفی
William Walkenhorst is a Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Loyola University New Orleans. His research focuses on the structure, function, and stability of peptides and proteins in solution, particularly antimicrobial peptides and protein folding dynamics.
- Education: Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1993), B.S. from Bradley University (1983).
Dr. Walkenhorst employs chemical, biological, and instrumental techniques to investigate how environmental factors like pH, ionic strength, and surface type affect antimicrobial peptide activity. He collaborates with undergraduate researchers and co-founded the New Orleans Protein Folding Intergroup (NOProFIG) in 1999.
His recent publications explore antimicrobial peptide synergy, pH-dependent sterilization mechanisms, and protein folding kinetics. Key journals include Biochemistry, Protein Science, and Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy.
- Labs/Teams: Founding member of NOProFIG, a local research group focused on protein folding.
