Dr. William Thomas Allison is a Professor of History at Georgia Southern University's College of Arts and Humanities. He earned his B.A. and M.A. from East Texas State University (1989, 1991) and a Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University (1995). His research focuses on War & Society, Military History, and the Vietnam War. He teaches courses such as HIST 2400 The American Military Experience and HIST 3150 The American War in Vietnam.
Dr. Allison's publications include American Military History (3rd Edition) and My Lai: An American Atrocity in the Vietnam War. He has held distinguished roles like Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and General Harold K. Johnson Chair in Military History (US Army War College, 2012–2014). He co-hosts the Military Historians are People, Too! podcast.
His professional activities include serving on the Department of the Army Historical Advisory Committee and as Series Editor for the Modern War Studies series. He has received awards such as the Army Meritorious Public Service Medal (2014) and held visiting professorships at Air Force and Army institutions.
