William T. Scherer was a Professor and Chair of the Department of Systems and Information Engineering at the University of Virginia. He served as Editor-in-Chief of Systems journal and Director of the Accelerated Master's Program (AMP). His expertise spanned systems engineering, stochastic control, business analytics, and intelligent transportation systems. Scherer held leadership roles at UVA Engineering, including contributions to curriculum development and pedagogy. He authored/co-authored over 100 publications and two Wiley books on systems analysis. His research focused on systems engineering methodology, financial engineering, and sports analytics. He was a Visiting Professor at the Darden School of Business (2001-2002) and President of the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society (2007-2008).
