William Swinehart serves as an Assistant Professor of Biology at George Fox University, having joined as a visiting assistant professor in 2021 and promoted to his current role in 2024. Prior to this, he worked as an adjunct professor in George Fox's biology department during 2020-2021 and as an adjunct instructor of biochemistry at Portland State University in 2019.
His academic credentials include:
- PhD in Biochemistry from Ohio State University (2015)
- BS in Chemistry from Georgia Southwestern State University (2008)
Dr. Swinehart's research and teaching expertise centers on Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, with significant focus on Human Biology and Biological Chemistry applications. His instructional background spans graduate-level teaching assistantships at Ohio State University (2010-2015) covering multiple disciplines, demonstrating deep integration of theoretical and laboratory instruction.
He maintains an active mentoring role through classroom instruction and laboratory supervision, having guided students across biochemistry, molecular biology, and human biology courses throughout his career at Ohio State, Portland State, and George Fox.
Outside professional commitments, Dr. Swinehart resides in Lake Oswego with his wife Amanda and their three children: Ava, Wyatt, and Campbell.
